Turkish Great Chess is a large medieval chess variant that was played in the Ottoman Empire. It is played on a 13x13 board with 26 pieces per side: 13 pawns 2 rooks 2 horses/knights 2 elephants 2 rhinos 2 gazelles 1 ferz 1 grand vizier 1 king The rhino combines the movesets of the knight and modern chess bishop. The elephant is a 2,2 leaper. The gazelle is a 3,1 leaper. The ferz moves 1 square diagonally. The grand vizier moves like the giraffe in Tamerlane Chess: it moves over 1 square diagonally then then at least 3 moves in a straight line.
