Offered here is an antique French Regence' pattern chess set and box, believed to be crafted in France around late 1914s to 1920s and exported globally this particular set could have been made from Henry Chavet workshop at the very company beginning in fact the horses heads are very different than most. The set features large pieces turned and hand-carved from polished boxwood and ebonized hardwood. The kings boast a lotus-shaped crown with a large bulb top and double turned rings, while the queens have a traditional bulb top finial. The bishops follow the traditional Regence' style with bulb tops, and the oversized knights are naive hand-carved featuring short looking mouths with pierced eyes, unlike most of their counterparts.
