1950s Soviet Latvian Chess Pieces are modelled after one of the favorite Latvian designs of Soviet Grandmaster Mikhail Tal. Knights are unusually large with their manes only on one side. The popularity of this design increased massively after it featured in the popular TV Series- The Queen’s Gambit.
